  • Qualified, experienced and well trained scientific and technical staff.
  • Well-equipped laboratory and controlled environment test rooms for conducting bioassays and screening different formulations of LLINs, IRS, Larvicides, and treated clothing.
  • Controlled environment insectaries with the following species: –
  • Anopheles gambiae, Kisumu susceptible reference strain, M form, originated from Kisumu Kenya and obtained from TPRI, Arusha in 2008.
  • Aedes aegypti, Bora Bora reference susceptible strain originated from French Polynesia and obtained from LIN/IRD Montpellier, France,  in 2008.
  • Aedes aegypti, Bora Bora reference susceptible strain originated from French Polynesia and obtained from LIN/IRD Montpellier, France,  in 2008.
  • Aedes aegypti, LHP, resistant to permethrin due to kdr type mutation on sodium channel. Collected by Pierre Guillet from Long Hoa in Southern Vietnam (Mekong delta) in 1997 and selected with permethrin until homozygote for kdr mutation. Obtained from LIN/IRD Montpellier in 2010.
  • Culex quinquefasciatus, TPRI strain, susceptible to pyrethroids, originated from Arusha, obtained from TPRI in 2008.
  • Glossinia morsitans , tsetse fly vector of African trypanosomiasis, obtained from TTRI 2013, Tanga, Tanzania.
  • Capacity to carry out standard WHO and ISO washes , when testing efficacy of treated materials ( netting and garments ).
  • Unlimited number of BFI and standard WHO cone tests, and upwards of 80 – 100 tunnel tests.
